Training and More
At Melmsgard Performance Horses & Training, LLC we offer several different types of training and lessons. We take in horses for training to get started or tuned up, give haul in lessons, as well as give both adult and kids lessons. We will also be offering exciting clinics and camps throughout the year.
Our Facility
Melmsgard is located on a 20 acre farm in Olmstead, KY. We are 20 minutes away from Clarksville, TN, Springfield, TN, and Russellville, KY. Our facility is under construction but when done it will consist of an 18 stall barn, a 60x120 indoor arena, a 150x250 outdoor arena, along with five large pastures all with run in sheds and automatic waters.
Meet the Trainers
Matthew and Elin Pitts are the owners and trainers at Melmsgard Performance Horses & Training, LLC. We both grew up around horses and wanted to pursue our horse training career after Matthew retired from the U.S. Army. Taking our education seriously we both became Master Certified Trainers through Ken McNabb as well as Accredited and Certified Trainers through Josh Lyons with Lyons Legacy.

Pepper
Pepper aka This Ember is Tuf is a 3 year old mare that has one of the biggest heart in a horse that we have ever seen. She is very athletic, covers lots of ground, and loves to please. Although she is only 3 she is very mature and safe. She does great in the sorting pen, moving cows, and even helping out with lessons. We can see her have great potential as a roping or barrel horse as well.
Stitch
Stitch aka Watch Prissy Lady is a beautiful 2 year old mare with Two Eyed Red Buck as her grandsire. She is getting started right now but is also available to purchase. Stitch is a super easy horse to handle, great in the field with other horses, and an easy keeper. We can't wait to see how far this girl will come.
Ruger
Ruger aka MSU Whizn Guns is an amazing 2 year old grandson out of Colonels Smoking Gun and Topsail Whiz. Ruger is a pleasure to work with, with his willingness to please and learn. This guy is drop dead gorgeous and we cannot wait to see how he will excel these next few months.
